Present Levels of Performance and Writing IEP Goals Tweet Chat

November 8, 2011 in Special Education Advisor Blog by Dennise Goldberg

This morning I hosted my monthly tweet chat for the Coffee Klatch. The subject was Present Levels of Performance and writing IEP Goals. It was a great chat with input from parents and educators. We even ended up delving into the concept of Parent - Teacher Partnerships in Schools. Instead of writing about it, I have posted the transcript from the chat below. I think I might have missed some comments but recreated it as best I could. Although my twitter handle is @SpecialEdAdvice I was driving the ship below as @TheCoffeeKlatch. I hope you enjoy reading the transcript as much as I enjoyed hosting the tweet chat. Read the rest of this entry →

Choose my Coffee Klatch Tweet Chat Topics and Win!

July 8, 2011 in Special Education Advisor Blog by Dennise Goldberg

For those of you that don’t know, I have started hosting a monthly tweet chat on Twitter via the Coffee Klatch.  This tweet chat will run the first Tuesday of each month from 9:00 am EST to 10:00 am EST.  The topics will be Special Education, IEP and Special Needs related.

For those of you unfamiliar with Twitter and Tweet Chats About.com define it as:

A Twitter tweet chat is a pre-arranged chat that happens on Twitter through the use of Twitter updates (called tweets) that include a predefined hashtag to link those tweets together in a virtual conversation.

Formal Twitter tweet chats are arranged in advance and occur at a specific time. They may include a formal agenda with a specific leader or "speaker", or they might involve a free flowing discussion between all participants. Read the rest of this entry →

Advocacy: Your Present Job, Your Child’s Future Job

April 28, 2011 in Special Education Articles by Jess

Today we had a terrific conversation on @thecoffeeklatch about being your child’s advocate and turning them into an advocate for themselves. The following is a summary of the discussion. It is a conglomeration of the wonderful thoughts and ideas produced by a group of tremendously supportive parents of special needs kids. Some of these ideas are mine, but not all. Please go to the search box on your twitter profile, and type in #tck to see the actual discussion of these topics. Read the rest of this entry →
