The School District Philadelphia is the 10th largest district in the country.  There are 176 Elementary Schools, 29 Middle Schools, 62 High Schools, 17 Alternative Schools and 28 privately managed which total 284 schools.  For the charter schools, there are 29 Elementary Schools, 6 Middle Schools, 16 High Schools and 4 Special Needs Schools.
