    Karen,

I’m still trying to navigate my way around this site. I posted a couple of comments regarding your situation and I wanted to make sure that you saw them. I just now uncovered an article that was presented on THIS site that I wanted to make sure that you read… maybe this will help as well? Here is the link:…[Read more]

  • A MAJOR victory was made in Pennsylvania for children with Autism… I’ve provided the link for your review. I need to warn you, it has a lot of legalese, but the bottom line, it’s all good for families of children on the Autism spectrum!

Ok, first and foremost I am NOT a doctor and I CANNOT diagnose your son. However, based on the description that you have provided in your post, it sounds to ME (again, I’m not a doctor) that you son MAY have ADHD. Has he been tested for this? I know A LOT of children with this disability. The children I know are HIGHLY intelligent, but have an…[Read more]

    • Good morning Karol. Thank for your replies. He is on zoloft and has been for a few years. Noone thinks he has adhd. He is able to focus and sit still. His trouble nowadays comes from talking to his friends during class because he has nothing to do and basic immaturity and attention seeking from his peers. He’s one or the youngest in his grade.…[Read more]

I’m so sorry that I did not respond before, as I just NOW saw this message. My heart goes out to you! Since the meeting with the school that you mentioned has already passed, how did it go?

I’m not knowledgable on how charter schools work as compared to public schools, so I must apologize for not understanding WHY a school does not have a…[Read more]

I have heard horror stories of IEP meetings from some of my friends in other school districts. On the other hand, I myself feel blessed to be in a fantastic school system that I feel truly listens to what I have to say and who really advocates for their students. With that said, I would like to make myself available as a sounding board to…[Read more]

    • Karol, so glad I found you. Im hoping you can provide some guidance with an issue I’ve been dealing with for 8 years with my son. He is gifted and also has a diagnosis of depression and anxiety. We have been through private, public and now charter school. Each school has failed us in some way. Currently, the charter school is ignoring our…[Read more]

  • I love to focus on the positive side to things, not just negative. Does anyone have any success stories that they would like to share on how their child or student overcame an obstacle? I figure this could be a way for people to feel comfortable in opening up, as well as to give ideas for people to comment on.

  • Another question that you can ask regarding tests, if your child needs to have the questions from the tests read to them. This accomodation was given to my son in elementary school, but no longer needed it once […]
